Wedding couples of all ages and interests are truly embracing the opulence of the 1920’s and 30‘s, sporting pearls, lace and floaty chiffon fabrics to name just a few. Couples are even delving into their own ancestry, ransacking great grandparents, old photo albums and treasure boxes. Brides are desperate to get their hands on some special vintage pieces, from classic headwear pieces to antique strappy sandals and why not, replicas and authentic vintage pieces can come at a premium price and plus it won’t have that intimate sentimental value that comes with a story.

There are several ways to embrace vintage, we love that idea of the Hollywood golden age, red carpets, champagne towers and tons of embellishment. Why not pop over to your nans and pick her brain on her life as her child and any collectables she may have that could inspire your wedding theme, consider old motifs and decorations that could be used for your invitations and reception décor.

If you want something a little more understated and natural then perhaps the rustic vintage look could be worth considering. This doesn’t mean that you should miss out on all the details, quite the opposite, however colors can be muted and left natural. Flowers and floral motifs should be heavily relied upon. Consider pretty garlands, vintage floral prints and again lots of embellishments with exotic beads and sequins to add in a little vibrancy.

So for all you vintage lovers out there, remember to home in on one area, exude in opulence or create that understated Ms Haversham look, either way don’t forget the all important minor details, do your homework to ensure you’re in the correct era and embellish everything.
